Webyep Data

I have built a number of Webyep pages, uploaded them and they have been populated with text and images. This I can see in the Data folder.

If I now change the URL for whatever reason (better SEO for example) I can see that I will break the path to that page from the data. Is there an efficient (easy) way of relinking all this stuff. Or do we have to re enter it all by hand again?

I’ve done it using a decent text editor with a Find and Replace feature. But how long or how easy depends on whether the changes are global or if each page requires a unique change.

ahmmm - I may misunderstood this, but the key here is the “documents” file within the data folder (what Todd probably means here as well).

Open this with a text-editor and adjust the paths there and all WY content should be re-hooked.

Thanks guys

I found it. The site is not to big yet so changing will be quick. Nevertheless best make my decisions now about URLs and stick with them.

I must get back to you Thomas about that brief conversation in mid February about Webyep and Nivo/Wow etc You mentioned something to sell in relation to your Denim Washed Template. Will this be on the market soon?

Well Richard,

what to answer here?

No, it is actually not planned and open spoken it is not basically intended for Freeway-Users cause they in fact shouldn’t need a WebYep ready template system.

Within this project, there’s nothing that wouldn’t be available on the free (and paid) market out there.

But thinking about a system like this is thinking on all the possible HOSTS and all their special settings out there and unless I have not more informations about them, it’s not recommendable to sell stuff like this.

I declared it “paid” just to prevent me from being asked about the methods and the “how did you…” I once recommended my Image/File-Manager I use in a WebYep surrounding and the result was more than disastrous. Today I know the mistake (HOST limitations regarding CHMOD) but I decided not to recommend things further anymore that are out of WebYep, WebYep-Actions and Freeway. But this is the center-technology of my wy-projects and if this fails all will fail. Especially the “slider” stuff mainly depends on a image-upload facility and I’m still as happy as unhappy with my solution (however I’m sure, that all of those manager struggle with the same problem then mine).

Anyway it is to me a so cool project just to find out the natural boundaries of WebYep and to help to improve the product. It fits perfectly in my personal mind-map of modular thinking and it helps me to find out more about CSS-styling, scripts and all that fancy stuff.

I do here on board so much “shots in the dark” that I often am feared about the thoughts of the experts and finally I never want to use Freewaytalk as a selling plattform or an advertiser of my own purposes.

Cheers

Thomas
