Webyep loop layout problems

Hi

I can not figure out how to organise the layout and spacing of text elements and image within a Webyep loop. I see in the demo on the Webyep site they have text elements on the left and photo with caption below on the right. Is this done with inline elements (box model?) Al I get, following the initial instructions, is text right up close to an image and then sort of wrapping around it.

Best wishes Richard

Hi Richard,

yes - it has to do with inline elements (BoxModel).

Short said:

Draw an HTML Box (name it wrapper)
Klick into that wrapper and via menu insert - insert 3 HTML-Boxes.
The first will carry your loop-start
The second your content
The third the loop end.

The content box you can fill you like but draw html elements in it so the content box is always blue highlighted, will mean that all the elements will be content of the “content” box.

There is an example

Log in admin, leave PW blank (the default setting)

If you like the freeway-doc, I´ll shoot you through on your PM.

Hope this helps

Hi Thomas,

It does indeed help. I have been exploring the method you have outlined and getting it to work. Nevertheless I would very much like to look at your freeway-doc as what you have built is just about exactly what I want and it would be interesting to compare it to what I am doing.

Many thanks - Richard

Hi Richard,

I will send it a bit later cause I saw, that you tested it by adding much more text to see if it`s expanding - and indeed it is not.

To fix this, I usually do it as a full inline box-model, but this is much more extended. The idea behind is to add box in box with undefined hight. If you have a two column layout you have to put in one box floating to the left, one to the right and so on. Means I have to fix it to the entire need before I sent.

Once you have the freeway-file (hope soon:-)), check the inspector concerning floating and clearing. I think than all could be a bit clearer.

Ok thanks.
I did see some overlapping text but assumed it was only a title/ heading and would only need a single line. Ah complications eh. I look forward to seeing your solution and will press on myself to see what is to be learnt through trial and - er - error.

Would have been good if Webyep had built floats and clears or columns or align left/right into the loop but so be it.

Thanks for your time - Richard

The problem is, that the webyep itself is not to be seen as divs, they only carry the relevant info to the webyep-system, will mean, that you always have to make your thoughts within the construction.

But please keep in mind:

Inline-Box-Model divides the freewayer into two parts:

The one that love and that one that hates.

Something beetween are only those who gave it try. The most disadvantage thing is you loose the great freedom of designing as you want and you have to plan much more - but the most advantage of it:

It`s flexibility and not to care about the text length your customers are typing in. So everybody has to charge himself the needs.

One tutorial tipp:

Dan Jaskers WebYep Episodes (1-5) at the moment, sure - not free, but absolutely worth every buck.

At least the link and I hope it works :-))))):

Excellent Thomas

I will come back to that this evening. It is the flexibility that I want as I am building a page for a language school who will be adding and removing modules each with descriptions that vary in length. Hope I don’t have to come back to you other than to say thankyou.

I do have the DJ Web episodes but have only got to to number one. I have fast forwarded it and I can see he is dealing with a loop but I think only one column and all text. Maybe further on will reveal yet more useful stuff. Worth every buck as you say, or euros which is what you and I have to barter in.

Best wishes Richard
