what does map id mean and how can I locate and fix?

Perhaps someone knows what ‘map’ refers to?
I’ve encountered a xhtml validation error ~

Line 401, Column 33: there is no attribute “href”.

Since I didn’t name anything ‘map’ nor do I see it in the resource list – I don’t know what to do. I don’t know what it’s even referring to …

A map is created when you assign a link to a portion of an image. You have lots of them in your page. The thing is, they’re not invalid at all. I just ran a test page through the W3 validator that contained a map, and it passed fine. There’s something else going on with your page that’s tripping it up, and I can’t see what it is.

I was looking at Rebecca’s code for that page last night (today/tomorrow depending where you are in the universe!) and some of the links are getting placed on the maps rather than the areas or as well as the areas.
For example;

etc.

I couldn’t get Freeway to reproduce this and would suspect it is either a block of markup or an action that is creating this code.
Rebecca, do you have any actions applied to this page that could cause this? Maybe send support a sample Freeway file and let them take a closer look at this?
Regards,
Tim.

At first I thought it might have something to do with the Flash element on the animation pages, since the home, profile, experience and contact pages are validating okay, but then when I checked the illustration page in the portfolio section, I got an error as well. I did note that one error validation referenced map6 and another page errored map1 – whatever that means. Any clues on how to hone in on the map error?

Hi Rebecca,
Freeway produces map areas either manually when the user sketches map parts over an image or when linked images get rotated, joined or sliced. The maps areas i was looking at yesterday in your HTML code referred to the bullet navigation on the lower right corner of the page. Make sure that these are positioned correctly and that they don’t overlap as this could cause the application to output the map areas. These in themselves aren’t bad but something is generating invalid links on the maps - I suspect an action or block of markup - and removing the need for the map areas will, hopefully, remove the invalid links.
Regards,
Tim.
