What Happened?

About 18 months ago I built a little site for a friend who was selling his Condo.
He sold it, but I left the site on the server.

I just went back to it to look at something, and all the rollovers were all broken.
Try the rollovers on the main page, and the thumbnail pictures on the other pages.

This Original site was built with:
The original site that is broken is at :

http://louslittle.com/condo5130/index.html

Without changing anything, I uploaded the site again using my current version of FW ( FW rebuilt it first ) and it works again

The rebuilt site was built with:
The rebuilt site is at:

http://louslittle.com/condo5130a/index.html

This is disturbing. If I build a site for someone, they pay for it, and then I move on,
some months later what they paid for doesn’t work any more, not good!!

I tried to compare the source for both sites, and there are differences, but I don’t know
enough about Javascript to understand the differences.

Does anyone know why this stuff built with FW4 doesn’t work anymore?
What kind of guarantees should site builders give to their clients?

LLE

I was using Safari 3.2.1 when I discovered the site didn’t work.
I just discovered the old FW4 site still works with FireFox.
My bad, its apparently Safari’s fault!

The same thing happened to me and I freaked out at first! If memory serves me correctly, Safari did an upgrade that somehow broke FreeWay-created rollovers. FreeWay released some kind of fix or change to compensate. But, it required a re-upload of your site to fix it. I’m sure others on here can give you a more exact explanation. But, there is mine FWIW.

Good luck,
Doty

There was a change to Webkit (which is the core of Safari) some time ago which broke certain rollovers.

As a result SP updated FW to fix it.

Unfortunately we cannot dictate what browser our visitors use - we can encourage them (Walt has a Get Firefox Action) - so there are problems that arise from time to time that generally we have to find workarounds to sort. (IE6 being a classic case) so dont blame Freeway and you cannot guarantee against dodgy browsers.
