When files lose their creator icon

I remember this happening years ago when all my Quark files lost their creator icon. Now a lot of my FreehandMX files have lost theirs. Can’t remember the solution - can anyone oblige??

It could be several different things. You might need to rebuild the desktop, but first try relaunching the Finder.

Either Quit (Finder menu>Quit) or if you don’t have that in the menu go to Force Quit (Command-Option-Escape) and relaunch Finder.
