Where is the "remove outlines" action?

Hello,

I’m trying to find the “remove outlines” action that Waltd created and mentioned in this thread:

http://www.freewaytalk.net/thread/view/9341#m_9387

I clicked on the action link mentioned in the thread and it was not clear where to find it. Any help would be tremendously appreciated.

You can always just apply a style in the “Extended” button under the “More…” in your link styles in the inspector and just add the attribute to all your links of:

Name: Outline
Value: none

I found the Action here – in my FW 3.5 Actions folder. I uploaded it to the server, and changed the file-type extension so it will load in FW5, but I haven’t tested it in FW5. Please let me know if it works for you.

Walter

PS: I didn’t take this Action down for any reason, rather my old ISP went out of business in the middle of the night, and all I had to work from was a really old backup that didn’t include it. So if anyone else spots something missing, please holler!

DanJ,

I did the following:

In the box, “Name:” I entered “Outline Value” .

And then in the “Value” box I entered “none”.

The dotted lines are still there when I click on the link- I’m obviously missing something. Do I need to highlight the text in the CSS box or just highlight the box?

Any ideas?

In the name box, enter the word outline, lower case. In the value box, enter the word none, lower case. Neither should have any quote marks added. If you are looking at the two fields, it should look like this:

outline
none

Oh, and one more thing. You should be doing all of this to a style that has the letter a (and nothing else) in the Tag field, and nothing at all in the Name field. Follow these steps to get the result you want:

  1. Click on the cog menu at the bottom of the Styles palette and choose “New Style”.
  2. In the resulting dialog, click into the Tag field and enter just a single lower-case a.
  3. Tab into the Name field, delete whatever auto-name is there, then (very important) tab out of that field.
  4. Click on the Extended button just below the Name field, and then click on New in the resulting sub-dialog.
  5. Add ‘outline’ and ‘none’ (without quotes) in the Name and Value fields, respectively.

You will not need to apply this style to anything in order to make it work. It will simply apply (through the magic that is CSS) to every link on your page. And because you have created it as a Tag-only style, Freeway will add it to every page in your site, without being asked.

waltd,

No quote marks were added. I did as you mentioned above, and the lines are still there.

Just to clarify:

•these are layered/HTML boxes
•with a CSS menu action applied
• Under the Links>More dialogue, I clicked on link> then the Extended button and entered the previous instructions in.
• the dotted line appears when clicking on the links, no other time.

Is anything jumping out that I may have done wrong? Feel free not to assume anything about my expertise or knowledge of how this program works…

Problem solved folks.

In between posts, I tired the action but to no avail- I had the box locked so it was being applied to the page but not the drop down menu- doh!

After unlocking the box, the action works as advertised. And yes waltd, it works in FWP 5 ;-O.

Thank you so much for your help!

Good, glad it worked out. In my preview my name and value were stacked options, but when it published it came out as one.

Sorry for the confusion, but in the end it worked.
