Why Freeway will last for 1,300 years

He’s talking about Perl here, but you could apply it to Freeway as well:

Those are some great thoughts, thanks for sharing Walter. Communities such as ours here have always fascinated me. Every successful community has a core group of minds who seem to give of themselves endlessly without monetary benefit.

I wonder if anyone has done research regarding what in common those minds have? It would be interesting!

That’s really interesting - thanks Walter - I’m also a member of an After Effects community that’s been running since the 90s and, as here, full of really generous people. As an aside the shrine reference reminded me of ‘Trigger’ in ‘Only Fools and Horses’ remarking that (he was a road sweeper) his broom was 8 years old, it had had 3 new handles and five new ‘heads’ !

When I dabbled in 3D animation I frequented a CG forum when there was unlimited help from all over.

I learned more and got more useful information from that forum than any manuals or software tutorials that I had purchased.

Freeway talk is the same. I even get excited when I can actually help someone on here rather than being the help seeker! Which, isn’t very often, I’m afraid…
