I love Freeway Pro but I am really disappointed Exhibeo is not running on Snow Leopard. I just read 30% of mac pro users are still on SL because most of the time they still need Rosetta for some applications to run.
I am on SL and I am not going to update my OS.
Is it so complicated for Exhibeo to be open to"old" OS?
Apple wonāt let new applications into the Mac App Store if they run on anything younger than Lion. Softpress probably cannot afford to leave that money on the table. Further, Iām not sure what the rules are about cross-compiling an application for Snow Leopard and Lion/Mountain Lion. At the very least, it would exponentially raise their testing costs, but it might not be permitted under MAS rules, either.

Apple would not ditch Softpress from the MAS if they also had a non-MAS version that ran on Snow Leopard. But the economic realities of the world mean that it would take them twice as long to create that (or require them to hire twice as many people, and thus charge twice as much) and that means that they have taken a decision to do what theyāve done. Iām not sure what it would take to back-port Exhibeo to Snow, but you could always ask them to do it ā post a request at support(a)softpress.com. It might be easy, but Iām not a Mac OS engineer, so I am talking out of my hat here.

Thanks Walter. If it is the true story it is scaring to see the monopolistic behaviour of Apple. Sad about it
Yes Peter, this an eternal debate
I am always using the last update for softwares as soon as I can (money)ā¦ BUT there is only one I want to work with again and againā¦itās FreeHand. And the good news is FreeHand is going to rebirth into a brand new and powerful application: http://www.stagestack.com/
I have to pipe in here about the Rosetta applications. Although I have decided on and moved to Freeway Pro for my future websites (after 3 months of researching), I still have 15 sites that were created in Mac GoLive 8 that I handle maintenance for. There is also Filemaker Pro 7 that I do all my invoicing and year end accounting tallying on, and Quicken 5 that I load and balance all the business checking account info for the accountant. There is the Big Box of Art that I use tremdously for clip art in print projects, plus a dozen other programs that I use occassionally that will STOP as soon as I switch over. I have updated with CS5 and am trying out iBank, and moving as fast as I financially can in replacing things that still serve me well and do not need to be upgraded. I am thrilled with the Freeway choice, but it is a lot easier said than done with ALL the things some of us have to replace to get to Lion. 26 years of being on a Mac, this has been the HARDEST move for me yet and I still donāt know when I can do it. Just so you knowā¦
If you buy cheap usb external drive (I bought a usb 3, 500 gig drive for 59 pounds) then clone your mac on to the external & finally upgrade your main operating system.
Then you can boot up in Mountain Lion, Lion or SL whenever you wish. So you can still use those older applications.
Iām very pleased in using Freeway Express to convert my complex website from iWeb, and look forward to using my recently purchased Freeway Pro.
However, similar to what others have stated Iāve āstuckā with the Leopards because I rely on the Rosetta-dependent āCanvas X for Macā to create the slide shows I link to from Freeway.
Maybe Iāve missed something (and Iām not a web expert), but Iāve not found any other web creation software thatās anywhere as convenient as Canvas X in creating slide shows with multiple images per page with captions, labels and occasional arrows for each slideā¦and MOST importantly a navigation index as well as āpreviousā and ānextā buttons as well as outstanding image editing capabilities.
I certainly am unable to create such slide shows in Showcase and apparently not in Exhibeo as well, but I keep hoping for something to enable me to run with the Lionā¦sigh.
