Xyle scope is now a free download…

I wonder why they’re not charging anymore? I paid for mine some time ago - oh well.

Cool, I’d heard of it, never used it. Can’t beat free!

I wonder how this compares to Firebug.

It’s similar to Firebug’s HTML and CSS inspectors, but Firebug does so much more in JavaScript and other parts of the experience. I like Xyle scope very much for figuring out which style rule (or rules) is/are affecting a particular element on the page. Often it’s not the ones you think…

As to the free thing, they haven’t been updating this product much since they came out with Things. (Mom loves the baby more!) The very very latest version has Sparkle in it, though, so what they might be doing is running a Free give-away to ramp up interest before they release a complete upgrade and everybody clicks that button…

Another one I use in addition to Firebug is “web developer”:

xylescope might be beautiful to look at, but I do seem to end up using Firebug and the web-developer plugins for Firefox.

Its also worth a look
