Received email last night, beta due in spring 2014.
Now, I know that some of you hate Canvas, and it is a bit of a piece of bloatware, but it does have some nice aspects. It is certainly much nicer than Illustrator, and if ACD make a good job of getting rid of the bugs, it might tempt some disaffected Freehand users.
What’s this got to do with Intaglio?
Well, sometimes if I am doing professional work, I often have to export an Intaglio document to pdf and open it with Illustrator to fix it (e.g. to get the overprinting right). I should be able to do this with Canvas now. With luck, I will never need to open Illustrator ever again.
Also, for those who follow my work, my freeform bezier maps are simply impossible to contemplate with Intaglio. The way you manipulate and change control points and handles is just too clunky. Canvas is the best software I know for editing beziers. Intaglio could be better, and I’ve emailed Nick with suggestions, so we will see.
Not that I’m going to switch sides, I love Intaglio, and for my linear maps, I can’t think of a better way of doing them. The software irritates the hell out of me, but for what I want to do, when it is in a good mood, I love it.
For latest of my mad maps, take a look at this, went viral on the internet (basic design work done with Intaglio, corners rounded with Illustrator):
