There are a lot of these Bootstrap apps about and most appear to be a thin GUI wrapper around a web interface that does all of the hard work. I suspect most use the same open source frameworks behind the scenes.
From what I recall seeing of the apps both Blocs (http://blocsapp.com http://blocsapp.com/) and Macaw (http://macaw.co http://macaw.co/) work like this too.
I’ve tried Bootstrap Studio but the others that I tend to fall back to for Bootstrap work are;
- Pingendo (http://pingendo.com http://pingendo.com/) - very similar to Bootstrap Studio but free
- Mobirise (http://mobirise.com http://mobirise.com/) - free, nicer UI than Pingendo, but with extended features added in via paid plugins (the code editor plugin for example is a staggering $70!)
- Pinegrow Pro (http://pinegrow.com http://pinegrow.com/) - a lot more control that either of the other apps I’ve tried as well as the ability to add WordPress tags to your designs. I’ve not used this as much as I would have liked as I tend to fall back to just hand coding something if I’m running up against a deadline. The development of the app also happens at such a pace that I often find it hard to keep up with updates and changes which, in its own way, is a bit of a burden!
Regards,
Tim.
