3rd Party Action update tracking

Yes, yes, I know that ActionForge needs a remodel and I did pledge the first go round for funding.

With that out of the way, how are we (FWP 6 users) to know what or when Actions are ready for 6? With the plethora of useful actions that may or may not need tweaking, we (the users) need a way to easily determine the status of things.

I know this isn’t simple, but I think the developers in the FW community need to each make a statement about their individual actions so we have some idea of where things stand.

If you look at the Forge today (as of this morning) you can see little [6 ] flags next to each Action that has been declared ready.

It would also to helpful to be informed which actions are now redundant in 6 and no longer required for their functionality.

In my case, the HTML5 suite is (almost) fully redundant. I need to go through the finer points and see what’s left in those that Freeway doesn’t do already. I also need to add tests to Sublime and VideoJS so they don’t change the page to HTML5 if it’s already there. (They still need to do that if you start with a lower DOCTYPE, though, even in Freeway 6.)

CSS3 Corners and CSS3 Shadows are part of the core functionality in Freeway 6. I believe we still don’t have a native equivalent to CSS3 Columns, though.

Forms got a lot of love from Jeremy this time around, and much of the stuff I relied on Actions for (adding IDs, properly handling grouped checkboxes, other tune-ups) are all native now.

That’s all I can think of off the top of my head. Much exploring to do!

I have found it instructive to just tool around a bit without any actions
(easy for me, others may find themselves in withdrawal). Also, I am holding
back from Extending everything (harder for me than for others). At least
till I can get the gist of how it works.

For those who have the time, that’s fine.
