960 grid...Fixed or Fluid?

I am looking to imply the 960 grid structure to my next site. Has anyone used or currently using this system?

I found some excellent tools to generate fluid and/ or fixed CSS style sheets based on the 960gs by Nathan. Is it possible to plug-in a script at the through FW’s html markup? Has anyone experienced this method within FW?

I’ve read several post about several Freeway users building their sites using the 960gs guidelines. Exactly how are you using this system? Do you import one of the files (Photoshop) provided by Nathan into FW? Or building a grid using the guidelines/ruler within FW?

Thanks much. -Dave, Freeway Pro 5.

Dave I have made a 960 grid FW template. I placed the PSD file from Nathan (that’s the one with the pink columns) as a page background and overlaid some guidelines to match the template. Once happy with my guidelines I lock them and delete the PSD background file.

Save this FW file as a template and reuse every time you build a new site.

You can do this without the PSD background (note this is in Pro only). Go to your Master page and set it to have a width of 960 pixels. Open up the Margins and Grids dialog from the Page menu and give the page a left and right margin of 5px and click OK. Now open the Create Guides dialog and in the Columns section enter 12 or 16, depending on how wide you want your columns, and 10 in the Gutter field.

Hope this helps,

Joe

I tried both and each suggestion worked perfectly. Thank you for the feedback.
