Add meta tags

I applied Tim Plumb’s Add Meta Tags action. Everything works fine.

When I looked at the Source Code, I see that the meta tags are not up at the top, right below the “GENERATOR” tag. When I apply the tags manually, they are right below.

Does it matter to the search engines where in the code these tags are? (I realize the diminishing importance of the tags already, so we can avoid that discussion.)

No, as long as they are in the file somewhere, the search engines that
actually care about this will find them.
