It’s could be marketing research to see which age demographics are using their products. It could also be something to do with contract terms & conditions. I doubt they want to give you a free licence on your birthday…

It struck me as a very odd thing and felt intrusive when all I wanted to do was try their software, not apply for a job. Kinda put me off which is why I didn’t activate it.

I don’t see any problem with subscription software… several stock image sites I use have been using that model for years. It will likely make it easier for many to manage their costs… less starving, more art.
