This application is written in PHP, and uses a lot of JavaScript to
switch the tabs around. But basically it is a custom store written
specifically for the type of product that is being sold. Converting
the measurements to a cost is simple math, but presenting all the
different options that they do (bevel type, number of beveled edges,
etc.) is not simple to do unless you are only selling one or two
different things, or are not allowing the sorts of “choose your
kitchen layout” options that they are.
If you were to copy this site completely, it would be a lot of work.
It would be a good idea to ask your client for a list of must-haves
and nice-to-haves, and start from there.
If you just want to figure out the length x width, that’s a pretty
trivial task, and you can do it in almost any server-side language.
You could also figure it out in JavaScript, but never trust the site
visitor so much as to use JavaScript to calculate a price that you
count on in your store. If you use JS, do so because you want the
client to have a fast (no page loads) experience. Always back it up on
the server with a real test to make sure someone hasn’t pulled a fast
one and reduced your price constant from $100/square meter to $1/
square meter.

Measuring flooring in a small application. but can it be done? and
perhaps…how??
would anybody know what it is?
the link:
http://graniet.nl/website.php?id=34
Since it is a dutch website, i would like to point to the ‘1’ on the
left top. You click on it and you go and can get carried away buying
countertops, granite and marble kitchen countertops ( i think)
can this be done, for flooring / etc…?
