I’ve been using the beta version of Airmail for several months now, and although I don’t think it’s all there yet, it does have very active development and is showing a lot of promise. I don’t care for the interface very much, but it communicates better with Gmail than Apple Mail does.

Conclusion: If you use Gmail, but want a good desktop client, Airmail is worth the $1.99.

I used Postbox for a while, initially fine once I stopped it deleting emails (not good) but it started to get very sluggish with only a few hundred stored emails, seemed to be a general problem.
Eventually went back to Gyazmail (with SpamSieve), absolutely no frills I acknowledge but lightning fast with 4000 + emails and very reliable. Quick search and good working spill chick.
Might give Airmail a whirl once I move to Lion or whatever cat is in charge.
