I know it’s an old beauty, but I can’t justify a new one, so I thought I’d fit an Airport card to my lovely old iBook. Which one do I need, where can I get one and are they easy to fit? Ta.

Check Apple’s support site for which model you need. No idea where you can get one though.
Install is very simple. Basically, you remove the battery, then (using a VERY tiny tip screwdriver) carefully remove the cover screw and lift off the cover plate. You then insert the card in the provided slot, attach the antenna cable, and snap the wire restraint into place. Then reattach the cover plate.
Be very careful with the itty bitty screw as it is very easy to destroy it.
You’ll need the original AirPort card that ran 802.11b only, not the one that runs 802.11b & g, which is known as AirPort Extreme. These original cards can be a bit hard to find nowadays. You may have to do a bit of searching for one, or perhaps find one at a place like a local user group swap meet or an old Mac from that era being parted out.
Thanks Joe - fully prepared for a second hand jobbie. The Apple site doesn’t throw up anything that I can find. Part no. is M7600LL/C - I think, according to their site.

You might try looking for one on the swap list. The folks on that
list tend to have such things lying around and tend to be fairly
trustworthy:
