Well, I don’t know why that should give you pause. All this is is a remote tool to browse and manipulate files on your server. It’s a very fancy admin tool, and the only database it needs really is the current state of the files on your server.

That’s true, but it seems like for organization purposes it would make sense to keep the files in a database, especially since they are originating primarily on an IOS device.

I guess a well organized folder would work just as well with frequent backups.

I’m sorry, I still don’t understand what a database has to do with this. Files live in a filesystem. Where they originate doesn’t matter, the file itself is the data, and the folder it’s in is metadata about that file.

So you have this tool that basically projects the same view you might see in Finder or Windows Explorer or Nautilus within a Web page that you can access from anywhere. It’s simply the same thing as Finder and the files on your Mac, modulo a great deal more physical distance between the CPU and screen.
