HI,
just to pick up from another thread. I’ve put 1.0b1 of my Caxton Action out for you lot to look at and play with. It lets you embed fonts on your page and is designed to work with the “kits” from http://www.fontsquirrel.com/fontface
You can download the Action for free from http://www.actionsworld.com/Actions/Caxton/index.php
Be sure to check that you are legally entitled to embed any of your own fonts you convert!
A quick and dirty test page can be viewed at Untitled . Obviously, this all depends on your browser being able to display the embedded fonts
Enjoy!

Just checked this out a few minutes ago and it’s a ton easier than SIFR. It seems to work quite well as I embedded a font and it showed up as I was hoping it would.
Is there any more information on what browsers support this and is there a way to adjust the style-sheet to not load this if the browser doesn’t support it?
Thanks Paul.

Dan - most browsers support it. It works in Safari, Firefox, Explorer. A list of supported browsers is here: http://www.fontsquirrel.com/fontface
It seems that Paul Irish is working on your unsupported browsers question:
http://paulirish.com/2009/font-face-feature-detection/
I’ll see how this is implemented and ponder including it in the Action. What I don’t want to do is break the fonts if JavaScript is not enabled.

Currently the Font Squirrel CSS used fails to validate against CSS 2.1
so unless you wait for CSS 3 you’ll have to rely on JavaScript (or a
CSS hack) to step around the validation issue anyway;

Tim.

Question…
There are 2 sets of directions… putting the file / folder ini the
media folder and also one just using the action.
If we just use the action… will it do the same?
Thank you
