Create a fading slideshow using graphics, HTML items, pretty much
anything you can cram into a layer or group together. Navigate
directly from one item to another, or use the Auto-fade option to
create a self-running presentation. The working style is similar to
Carousel, in that you indicate one element where the effect will
“live”, and all the other options are marked with a separate Action.
My inline box that contains the fader expands downwards every time a new fader option image loads. In this example the auto fade option is set to zero but it behaves the same when a time limit is applied. My fader and fader options are html boxes. I initially tried them with graphic boxes but it also expands downwards.
Try making both the thumbs and the fader completely stand-alone layers, not nested in any way in your layout. They should float above all other content. See if that makes a difference. I have tested this with a (admittedly very simple) inline layout, and didn’t have this sort of issue.
In other news, I just uploaded a new version of the Action that lets you use transparent boxes for the fader elements – no longer will the spinny thing appear beneath your options after the new option has loaded.
And you have updated to the 0.2 version of the Action? Please try
removing the Action from all elements on your page, publishing, and
then re-applying the Action. Freeway can get “greedy” and stick to the
original (cached) version of an Action and not realize that there’s a
newer version available.

Love the effect Walter! Thanks…
But I am still seeing the spinning ball in my transparent
ScriptyFader container.
I have only downloaded the new version today… never used the original.
I drew an HTML box (not nested) and applied Scripty Fader to it. (auto fade at 2) Nothing in it, just a transparent box.
Then duplicated it 4 times, mover them off the page, removed the ScriptyFader action and added the ScriptyFader Options action. I added a few pictures to each of these boxes and hit preview… and on each transition I can still see the spinning wheel.
If you want I will post a link when I get it up on the test server.
I’m not seeing that here. How did you add these pictures to the Option
boxes? Are they inline or are they drawn as positioned children? Are
you using the autofade or are you using thumbnail navigation?

Also, I hadn’t ever considered that someone would want a blank option
among all the other options. Can you explain what your goal is with
that design choice?

These panes arent complete, I just wanted you to see what was happening. It almost looks like the wheel is adding a white matte the way a transparent GIF would do.
This easy to work around… I can just place an image over the center area and the wheel goes away.
Your help to me and this board is invaluable so please dont think I’m complaining. Just thought you’d like to know. I think this new action is a great addition to an already amazing product.
Ew. That is pretty ugly. Here’s a quick hack until I find a few
minutes over the weekend to rev the Action. Use an FTP app to connect
to your server. Find the file named Resources/ajaxwait.gif and replace
it with a copy of the _clear.gif that Freeway uploads. Note that
you’ll have to make this change each time you upload, so once you do
this, download the file to your desktop to make the process easier the
next time.
Move into the Resources folder. Find ajaxwait.gif and delete it.
Find _clear.gif in the same folder, click once on it, and choose
File / Duplicate in your FTP application’s menu.
Click once on the duplicate file (_clear copy.gif) and select its
filename. Rename it to ajaxwait.gif
Look again at your site – the spinner should be gone.

Hi Walter
I’ve used both autofade and thumbnail and get the same results.
I placed the pics using the graphic button, as positioned children
as you put it.
I am using this to have several elements float above the
background… here is a link:

Okay, there is now a checkbox to disable the spinner. The graphic I have in there is transparent but the edges are anti-aliased to white, so it only really works well on light colored backgrounds.
