Any Aussies out there

I know these things can be done on-line globally, but I wonder
whether there might be any Aussie (preferably Melbourne) -based
Freeway aficionados I could contact for help with Freeway, perhaps on
a commercial basis. Someone with a graphic arts background would be
ideal.

And best wishes to everyone in what I reckon must be one of the most
active and helpful groups around.

Hi Philip,
I’m in Melbourne and could give you a hand if and when needed.
How can we share contact info discreetly on this forum?
I really do miss the convenience on private messaging for the occasional contact.

If you’re on the Web side of this system, then click on the My
Account navigation tab. Enter your e-mail address, surrounded by <
and > in the Contact Info field, and press Update Account Settings.

If someone wants to contact you after you do that, all they have to
do is go to your Person page (which they can get to quickly by
clicking on your name in the top-left of any post you write) and then
they can click to send you a message.

John FG
Walter had kindly suggested a way I could be contacted via MyAccount
because personal email addresses were stripped from group messages.
Fair enough, but I think it would be simpler (for me) if you’d like
to try me on mobile 0409 237 549
Thanks

Phillip, I know you’re just being friendly and all, but you realize you’ve just given your cell phone number to the world? None of my concern of course, just makes me a bit uncomfortable for you.

I wouldn’t lose any sleep over that. I do it from time to time as I
have my phone details in my main .sig.

I’ve never had problems with calls through people getting my number
from my email or from web-based posts or pages - only through phone
companies going through their databases and calling people to try and
con them into upgrading/crossgrading their mobile phone contract
and/or insurance! Grrr…

I have been starting to get calls from people who say they are in
Korea or the US telling me I am privileged to have been offered a free
a business report on the markets for free, they just need to know some
information about me first… some chance!

I steam when it comes to spam email but these ‘spam’ calls to my
mobile that have been starting in the last couple of months blows me.
I can only guess these people got my number from one of the 2 of my
web sites that shows it (but I need the number on those two sites).
One of the annoying things is ‘as if the calls not enough’ is the
arrogant persistence that these people seem to deploy. I got a call 3
days ago from some so called US company… I stopped the guy in his
tracks by telling him that I wasn’t interested in his his offer and to
not call me again, he continually tried to butt in and stop me, then
when I said good bye he called several times within the hour to try
and get me to get me again, even stopped his phone from number sending
so I wouldn’t see the number after I wouldn’t lift it when his number
showed.

Bring back capital punishment, that’s what I say

As I have worked in construction I interrupt cold callers for
kitchens and double glazing to tell them I’m in the trade and do the
work myself. They rarely call a second time. Similarly, although I
only have a loose connection to Virgin Mobile it usually works as a
deterrent to mobile phone sellers to say that I work in the business.
And so on… Beat them with their own stick i say. Give it a try…
Cheers
Pete

I usually say to them: ‘Did you not know that I’m on the TPS
(Telephone Preferences Service) list and you’re breaking the law
talking to me?’

I’d love to be able to say that it usually works, but mostly, they
just
say ‘What’s that?’

Yes, I think I’m signed up with them through BT. Unfortunately the
TPS only covers UK call centres etc. Foreign ones are not bound by
the legislation hence it is lacking many of its teeth

Ah, didn’t know that. Mind you, when I talked about the ones that get
through, they’re few and far between; since I’ve been signed up, I
hardly get any.
