Area Map Why!

I have an image with my div area and every time I add a link, it decides to add a map area? Why does it do this, I just need it to behave normally, I do not want any map areas, but everytime it decides to do this.

Is there something I am missing, or have I something on… this is driving me nuts… I do not want map areas for my images on the page…

Any ideas!!

Hi Barry –

If I set my page to Table Layout and have my linked image overlap either another image or graphic text, then I can get FW5 to throw me map coordinates in the code.

If this is what is happening, either switch to CSS Layout and layer these items, or make sure they don’t touch or overlap.

I believe it also happens if a graphic object with a link is rotated.
This is to make sure the link area is mapped to the ‘actual’ graphic
area, not the overall rectangle that encloses the rotated object.

Clever, and useful very nearly all the time. However, there have been
an occasion when I REALLY wished this could be turned off!

Hi All

I am using freeway 4 pro, I have my layout as css, I always use external css files for ease.

The graphic is not rotated or changed, is sitting in a box within the div area and when i publish it keeps giving it as a map area. This is causing big problems as its stopping my code (for image pop up) from working as it needs to be within the div area.

Any ideas?

So you draw a div/box and issue the "place image’ command (or whatever) select the image and ‘create link’? When I do that in FWY4 I get a good clean link tag around the img tag. Even if I am inserting the graphic element inline, selecting it and applying the link my code comes out clean.

Did you apply any graphic treatment to the image? I can get coords if I import the image, create the link, then apply a drop shadow…

Otherwise I must conclude the situation is not as vanilla as you are describing it.

Hi Ernie

I managed to sort it, must have been a glitch, I deleted the div and started again and this time no map area applied to any image, strange one… but got over it in the end.

Thanks
Barry
