Why is it this “feature” never works correctly? Every time I try and use this, from the beta till now… I get stuck movement, weird results, and generally unpredictable results? I’d love to use some of this cool new stuff in my projects, but what’s up with this… I’ve checked it in Safari and Mozilla, same results. Anyone else encounter this???

I’m trying to use the stuff in rollovers… And to emphasize text etc. I’d post an example, but my site is down right now. It seems that if the FX is NOT for a rollover, it’s o.k. butif you try to include it in a png graphic rollover, or any rollover… it hangs and sticks etc. Maybe Mozilla browsers, I don’t know… but it’s disappointing, because it gives you some of the effect of Flash, without the overhead. Just a sort of subtle bit of feedback for the user, which I like, as opposed to a whole flash site! Hmmmm… Anyone… Joe?

Are your rollovers combined or grouped layers? Have you tried both methods with the action? As you say this could very well be a browser issue.

Good or bad, I’ve gotten in the habit of making rollovers as png’s because a rollover is so much easier to accomplish. Two objects over the top of each other, one transparent when moused over. Of course this requires them to be png files. Which may be the culprit with FW? I don’t know… Grouping the files, is so unwieldy, that I got out of the habit of doing it that way. Making a change requires ungrouping, disassembling, blah blah… and there a pain to grab and move. With the FX and png rollovers, you get a lot of cool function, but I’m having a LOT of issues previewing and getting consistant results? Also, if I place rollovers on the master page, I have to keep hitting republish all the time to preview the rollovers and FX? This doesn’t seem to happen, if I copy and paste the rollovers from page to page… Maybe I’m doing things differently, but everything I’m doing is faster and if it worked, would make the job easier! Maybe I need to get someone at Softpress to test some of this… Hmmm!

Well I am not sure just how you’re doing your rollovers based on your description, but I am assuming you are using the parameters tab of the action.
So to rule out this being an issue with PNGs, try replacing them with a jpeg. I know it won’t look right… but just as a test to confirm or not your unexpected behavior is due to using PNGs.
