Audio volume control

Hi Jeremy,
I’ve been working with Xway 1.0 for some time now on several websites that were originally made with Freeway. It’s pure joy to work with Xway. For longtime Freeway users like me it takes some time to get used to the different philosophy and workflow of Xway, but as soon as this step is made, things are much easier and faster than before.

Video tutorials, especially about menues, would be really helpful. The templates are excellent here, not only as starting points but as study templates. They helped me a lot in understanding things better.

The audio tracks option is great - would it be possible to integrate a volume control? Right now, the audio files are just played at full volume.

Thank you again for the tireless work and support on Xway over all those years!

Best, Ernst

Hi Ernst,

This seems to be some kind of quirk in Safari. Xway adds a controls attribute to the audio element if the Controls checkbox is selected (in the Box section of the Box Inspector), and other browsers (Firefox, Chrome) do display a volume control.

What I’ve found is that you can get Safari to display a volume control if you set a width of 370px or greater on the audio element: curiously, this has to be a width (set in the Width field of the Dimensions section of the Box Inspector), and not a minimum width. One problem, however, is that 370px is wider than some phones, but you can work around this by setting a maximum width of 100%: so the audio element is 370px wide on wider devices, but shrinks to the width of its parent (and loses the volume control) on narrow devices.

Hi Jeremy,
you are right, the volume control is shown on Chrome as well as on Firefox on the big screen. I will follow your advice for Safari.
