Again this is probably simple but trust me I’ve done a fair bit of digging and can’t solve the problem. I have a light blue b/g and when viewed locally in Safari and IE my page colour (blue) matches the browser blue. I tried viewing the page on a PC (at my local library) and it’s a slightly different blue … is this a colour depth / resolution / colour profile thing ?

It’s likely that your local library has their monitor set to 256 colours, or maybe, thousands. If your light blue is a ‘web-safe’ colour (i.e. off the standard web palette), then there should be no problem. However, if your light blue is outside the gamut of standard colours and is entering either the realm of the so-called ‘named’ web colours or a hue of a web colour, (Web Safe Colours / Colors, Named Colours, 500+ Colours, Colour Links) then your library monitor isn’t going to display it properly.

Thanks madmacstoo - I guessed it had to be something like that - that site looks really good, I’ll dig into it. I appreciate you taking the time. Roger

Also, Windows PC’s use a different standard gamma than Macs. Generally speaking, this will make all colors look duller on a PC that originated on a Mac
