On this site http://www.bnh-photography.com I have a Background Super Sizer. When the site owner places this as link on a Facebook page no thumbnail appears alongside the link, where as with other links they do.
Is it possible to put something behind the background that Face book will grab as a thumbnail - perhaps using z index? I have tried that but so far without success. Or some where else off the page?
Hi Richard,
You can check what Facebook knows about your site by using their debugger tool here;
Looking at the results of that page as well as the source code of your page I can see that the only images in the html are clear GIFs that are holding the tables together. The rest of the images are injected into the page using scripts.
Facebook offers a number of specific meta tags that allow you to specify an image, video or sound to be associated with the page when it gets ‘liked’. You can also add other meta data such as descriptions, titles etc. These show up on Facebook alongside the link to the page. For example here are the tags used on the Softpress site; http://www.freewayactions.com/code/?f=Facebook-meta-data.html
Add your own version of these tags to the home page using Page > HTML Markup… > Before End Head and upload your image using Upload Stuff [1], Upload Extra Resources [2] or an FTP application [3].
Regards,
Tim.
