Basic Question

I am trying to figure out the basics here. I am testing out an album from the Photo Wizard and can’t figure out how to change the background color. The inspector shows no option for a background color. I see a Category on the left with Parts/Background, but no basic color.

I see

when I view the HTML, which I can edit I guess when I copy to Freeway, but there must be a simpler way.

No mention of this in their doc. Thanks!

Yes you can use the Flash Extras action when in FW to change the background colour - but it would be useful to know how to do it in EWA.

Hi Jan,
Once you’ve been through the Photo Wizard and have created your album
you should be left looking at a standard EWA document. The album is
made up of one or more thumbnail pages and a page for each image in
the album. You can see all of these listed in the Pages panel at the
foot of the main EWA document window.
Select the first page (it should be selected by default) and click on
the background. All of the albums use a background image positioned
behind the your imported photos so you can simply delete this and
either replace it with your own image or define a background color for
the page.

With the background image selected you should be able to see the item
selected in the timeline at the bottom of the list (items in this list
are ordered with the front most items at the top of the list and
background elements at the foot).

To add you own image choose Items/ Add items…/ Image. Size and
position the image in the editing window and adjust the item on the
timeline so it spans the full length of your animation. Like the
original background image make sure that it sits behind other items by
either dragging it down in the timeline or by selecting Items/ Change
overlay/ Bring back.

If you just want to set a color for the page then delete the existing
background image and click on the document icon in the Library panel
on the right of the EWA document. You should see the Property panel
change to “Document selected”. Here you can set the properties for the
entire document including it’s background color.
If you want to set the background color in Freeway then click the
“Transparent background” checkbox at the foot of the property panel.

EWA will export the correct HTML to handle the transparency but I
suggest you ignore this and simply import the SWF directly into your
Freeway page as normal and let Freeway handle the file management for
you.
To let Freeway know about the transparency you’ll need to add the
following adjustment to the Flash object in Freeway;

  1. Select the Flash item in Freeway and choose Item/ Extended
  2. Under the Embed tab click New
  3. Add Name: wmode and Value: transparent
  4. Click OK twice to get back to your Freeway page

If you get stuck let me know and I’ll try and create a walkthrough for
you as an example.
All the best,
Tim.
