Beyond a certain page height (20,000–25,000 px), the display sometimes becomes erratic (with objects appearing to multiply). Furthermore, while object selection handles remain visible at any zoom level near the top of the page, the further down you go, the more specific the zoom level must be for these handles to appear—to the point that, at the bottom of the page, they are only visible at a 50% zoom level.
Is there an explanation for these two phenomena?

Freeway has issues drawing boxes on very long pages. There is some previous discussion here.
I don’t have a good workaround, although zooming out may help, as you’ve noted.
