Building a New Page

Sort of a newbie question but if I’m rebuilding a page (my gallery page, I want to revamp) would I work on the original until it’s done or should I start a whole new page then use it to replace the old one (deleting the former one) when I’m done? Guess I’m thinking I need to keep the old one on file until I’m really sure of the new one.

Carolyn, keep your old site for safety. Open it and ‘Save as…’ another name (e.g. ‘Oldname Version 2’)

Work on the new version until you get it right and all your original upload details will be there ready to roll. To stop your existing site files on your hard disk being overwritten, go to 'Document Setup" and choose or make a new site folder. (Actually, even if you do overwrite them you can re-publish them from your original Freeway file).

If you want to test your site live, make a new folder on your host server named, say, ‘TestSite’ and upload to that. Then re-upload to your original account/folder only when you are completely happy.

There are options depending on the time and process involved.
You can just work on an unlinked page untilou get it right and then copy and
paste it to the cleared new page.
Or you could work on a copy of the Freeway document and publish to a test
folder until it is ready to replace the current version.
If what you are dong is simple and you are confident you can work on the
actual page - and if anything went wrong you can always revert to a backup -
(good to keep a backup of work). Be aware the BAK file that Freeway makes is
a copy of the last opened version - so it might lag some of the work done
since.

hope this helps
