Captcha woos

I have downloaded and paid for the Easibase web form action, but I’m having heaps of trouble with it. Basically, it won’t work with visitors to my site using PCs. Works every time with Mac users, but anyone using a PC and who has their security setting set above low gets a 1#Captcha, please correct errors’ message most times.

The man at Easibase is in denial about the problem so can anyone here help.

Rattie, please do not say things that are not true, my last email to
you was:

I do understand that you want to get this sorted but I still don’t
understand what the exact problem is?

Are they trying to send attachments from the web form? this is not
possible.

Are they saying the page does not load or there is a problem with the
form? it sounds like the page does not load which has nothing to do
with the form.

Are they referring to the Math captcha when they talk about the
numbering section?
If so then I have tried this from Windows XP and it works there, the
only reason that thing may not be working for them is if they have
cookies turned off on their browser, this is something you should
check because the captcha uses cookies. I would be surprised if this
was the problem as most browsers alert you to the fack that a cookie
is being set when this option on a browsers settings is turned off so
I would be surprised that this is what it is.

I would like to hear on a step by step basis what the exact problem
is: i.e.

  1. Load form
  2. Enter name, tel etc.
  3. MAthquestion: 1 + 2 =
  4. Enter answer of 3
  5. Press submit
  6. What happens? (Does the page send, what happens if it does etc.)

Does this same problem happen from another PC… or just theirs?

It is very difficult to try and find out why something might be wrong
without knowing exactly what the problem is exactly, the reason I say
this is because I have heard many report problems only to find that
the problem is nothing to do with what they are explaining, thats why
it is important to know what exactly is happening.

This is not what I would call ‘in denial’, it is called needing
detailed information on the problem.

Rattie, if you want post the URL for the page in question, I’ll see
what happens on both my old and current PC’s, to see if the problem
is, perhaps, an isolated one or more general. I use Easibase on a
number of web sites, without any problem and my clients have a diverse
range of PC systems.

The problem is plain and simple, when people using PCs fill in the form, complete the maths question, press submit, they then get the error message as stated.

No one is trying to send attachments.

Ian,

you stated in reply to the person who reported the problem:

What I meant in the first line of my last e-mail was, as far as I'm concernd, I could not repeat the problem that you had posting the e- mail address here in my office.

So if you cant see the problem either and I can see it from trying the
form on a PC then I need more information from the person who can see
it, hence the information requested in my last email.

I would love to try and get to the bottom of the problem the person is
having but if you don’t have that problem and I don’t have that
problem and the problem the person is having is not clear then the
additional information is important, supplying that would help.

I have also requested information from you in other emails that you
have not answered, this is a two way process and getting to a solution
is simpler if certain steps are followed.

But are these people filling in the ‘Required’ information in the
form, having the steps outlined would help let me know that because if
they are not then the captcha error will throw again even if they have
if selected correctly, again supplying the information I asked for
would tell me this.

MIke,

We are talking at cross purposes.

What I was referring to in the e-mail that you have mentioned above was the problem YOU were having in entering the e-mail address when you tested the form on my pages. NOTHING to do with the problem my client and others are having. Remember you mention about the cut and paste. I tried to recreate this and couldn’t

My problem is as stated above, I’m being told by PC users that on my site they are having problems using the forms.

No error message on IE8/Widows 7, but the form doesn’t go to the
“thank you” page from the Contact Us page.

I’ll now fire up the old PC IE6/Windows XP - and if it works on that
it should work on anything!

All three pages clear of Captcha errors on IE6/Widows XP

Looks like the problem is not general - what system configuration does
you client use? And, if you will excuse me being facetious (no slight
intended) I presume your client is OK at Maths! ;-))
