Center of a star

I draw a five pointed star then draw a circle. I select both objects and align centers. What I get has the circle shifted up somewhat. Apparently the center of the star is taken as the center of the rectangle that contains the star, not the true center. Any suggestions on locating the true center of the star, which is the point equidistant from each tip.

Thanks,

BN

I hope this makes sense. Draw a straight line from any of the outside points to the opposite inside point and repeat on another point, where these two lines intersect is the centre of the object. It helps if you have snap to points turned on.

Rob,

Yes that works great, don’t know why I didn’t think of it. One thing
that it doesn’t do however is create a snap-to point at the
intersection of all those lines. Seems like there ought to be a snap-
to at the center of the star from the very beginning.

After sleeping on it I found a way to get that snap-to point. Draw a
circle. It has a snap-to in the center. Use that snap-to as the
starting point of the star. Now the star and the circle are centered
as I wanted them. Even after you group them the snap-to point remains
and you can move the star, resize it, rotate it etc and the point is
there. When you are done, ungroup and delete the star.

Still think the star ought to have it’s own center point.

Thanks,

Bill
