Centering objects in 6 - going nuts

I’ve spent half an hour trying to center a darned html object in FW6 and am about to go postal. With all the new options I can’t find the magic combination to do something that used to be drop-dead easy in 5.5.

I’ve got a text box placed in an html object. The text box has auto margins at right and left and the html object it is nested in is set to zero right and left and a width of 100%. Layers are set as they should be, etc.

This should do it (at least it used to) but now with all the left-right, left-right %, stretchy, squshy, lumpy and wavy gravy,I haven’t been able to get it to work after more than two dozen attempts.

I wonder what it is I might be doing that would displease the gods of Witney?

I’ve got a text box placed in an html object.

When you say placed do you mean - click inside and Insert>Html Item?

A link to your workings online would help.

Pasted inline. I had a similar object on the page that I had created just a couple of hours earlier… Every setting was exactly identical, but the first object behaved correctly whereas the second did not. I went over the settings time and time again - even making sure there were not odd settings like graphic text what-not.

In the end, I duped the good object, pasted in the child object and deleted the rest, then moved on.
