Checking out sites

Me again, I have come across several comments on the forum suggesting various websites to use for checking content etc. and I have slowly been collecting these sites as favourites, does anyone though have a list of essential things to go through to check optimisation, readability and all those other things that are so important please ?

Best Roger

I’ve started relying on Firefox and the Web Developer extension, and
it’s highly recommended.

It sits there as a toolbar in Firefox, and you can get it to check
your pages live, where it gives you instant feedback on HTML and CSS
validation. You can turn off all kinds of functionality, show alt
text, show dimensions, resize the browser window to simulate monitor
sizes and loads of other stuff.

The extension works in FF2 and 3. The extension developer is

It’s donationware.

I have become so used to Freeway now generating a standards compliant
page, I get quite annoyed when something causes the validation to fail
somewhere! Interestingly, it’s often third party JavaScript that does
it.
