Clearing the cache

On my homepage I’m using transition FX to have some images appear. However, if a user has been to my site before, they flash on the screen first before disappearing and reappearing.

Is there a way to prevent this from happening? Any and all ideas are welcome.

It’s at www.Quindry.com

Thanks,

Rich,

I don’t believe that it is a cache issue as the problem you detailed happened to me on my first visit to the site using Chrome. Same issue happened in Firefox 6 but it worked fine in Safari.

Thank you - very interesting! All along I’ve assumed that it’s the cache. Does anyone have any idea what’s happening?

I think that this may be caused by your page loading other javascript before the JS required to hide the images.

Because of the time it takes to load your sharethis js etc. the images appear then are hidden by the FX action JS

Try the same page without the addthis stuff to see if that helps.

If it does there may be a way to change the load order of the different JS

Thanks for the suggestion. Not real strong on javascript. How do I get into the javascript in freeway to check this? Can it then be changed?

Found and removed the sharethis js and that was it.
Works perfectly now. Thank you so much!

Interesting. I have seen this on sites in the past and never figured out why it was happening.
I am building this site at present http://www.barbaradelaruelle.com which does have a Sharethis button and FX but I see no problem. Is it to do with the order they are added to the page? Or am I not seeing something that others can. Can someone can let me know if they see the same issue?

ARRGH! I removed the sharethis code and it seemed to remove the problem but it has reared it’s ugly head again. Maybe now it’s caused by the cache???

Tried moving all of the FX photos to the front of the page? Select all of them and then >Item>bring to front

Thank, Richard.

Brought the images to the front. Not sure why, but I think that worked! (I say cautiously because I’ve been wrong before).

Can anyone verify?

Unfortunately, it seems to have reverted to the original behavior. :frowning:
