Coda 2

In Freeway, yes. Not so much in Coda, where I can quickly work live to edit
the page Freeway generated, then make notes on how to recreate those edits
back in Freeway Pro. In the case of styles, often it is easy as copy,
switch apps, paste, repeat.

In combination I think their strengths really shine. Freeway Pro for quick
visual frameworks, Coda for quick style development.

Just bought Coda 2 on the app store (I know Todd but its so much easier) - will also got the Diet Coda for iPad. i’m not sure if it will be better than Textastic http://www.textasticapp.com/ which I’m very happy with for editing on the go.

I figure it’s always useful to have a proper editor handy, even if you don’t need one everyday. Coda may not have the “geek cred” of the propeller-beanie-wearing-code-monkey crowd like TextMate, BBEdit, Vim or Eclipse, but it does just fine for front-end stuff. Plus it’s soooo sexy.

Me, too.

As I am still in an iPad free world, I haven’t got that version yet.

Me too. I’m not in an iPad-free world, but I haven’t got the other one yet; probably will though, seems a shame not to. The built-in books are terrific, and boy, do I need them!

Wow, I’ve never seen Panic’s site so overloaded! Their code and design is so lean, and they’re very well hosted – it’s usually a sub-second load. I bought from the Mac App Store just because the Panic store was loading so slowly!

[Laughs] I’m glad to hear all of you bought a copy! Whoo-hoo! Now get to using it.

I debated a lot about buying from the MAS vs direct from Panic but I’d rather Panic pocket the extra 30%. And besides, Cabel has alluded that due to Apple’s proclivity to alter the terms of the MAS it’s possible they might be forced to change features of the MAS version in the future which would not apply to the other version. It’s a crap-shoot I suppose, but the fewer hands in the pot the better, I say. And I’m sure Panic will figure out an alternative to the iCloud issue eventually, or maybe Apple will change their terms of use.

So, what do you kids think? Like it? I haven’t had much time with it yet. Apparently the MySQL editor is in fact Sequel Pro. Not surprised by that.

Oh, that is funny. I have a very long history with that project, originally called CocoaMySQL. I designed their first icon, which was a dolphin (the MySQL mascot) in a fish bowl (an homage to Douglas Adams). That was back in '99 or so.

Someone on Twitter asked Cabel about it and he basically said “… yes, it’s based on Sequel Pro”. Whether it’s “based on” or actually “is”, I’m glad it’s there. I am a big Sequel Pro user.

I must be missing something very simple. I would like to use diet code, but I can not seem to get my HTML to format properly. It is okay in dreamweaver, but in diet coda, there are no line breaks. It is simply running text.

Can someone please help me understand what I am missing to format this properly?

Thank you!

Check that you have set your line-breaks to Unix/NT format in Freeway, and that you have enabled the “More Readable” option in the Output tab of the Document Setup dialog.

No, it’s in Freeway. Then you should be able to see line-breaks in the generated code when you open it in Coda or Diet Coda.
