Controlling browser window size

I’m working on a design which I want to try and control the way browsers open the page in that when they arrive at the page then the window of the browser will reset to a size which I can define from within the coding or the design.

Is this possible?

Yes. But it’s extremely annoying, and I tend to leave any site that horses around with my browser window and never come back. Think ten times about the blowback before you decide to do this. The proper thing to do is to design your site so the browser window dimensions don’t matter. If you really can’t do that for some reason, then use Spawn New Window to pop up a sized “daughter” window for your site. Note that this will kill your Google-fu, and piss off an entirely different set of users, but at least you will be able to give everyone a warning that the window will be new and sized, rather than taking my carefully-positioned-and-sized window for a joy-ride.

I understand fully that it can be an irritant to people, which is not why I’m doing it, of course, but just as one mans irritant is anothers titillation, I am doing it as a bit of a creative exercise for people who will expect something a bit different.

I reckon the spawn new window might be the way to go with this as I can make it as a link from an existing page.
Thanks again.

Yes, the issue for me is when I navigate to a link, especially from another site or a mail message, and suddenly my browser window is zoomed full screen, usually accompanied by some music playing… There’s no warning and I really do hate it when either of those things happen in a Web page.
