Hi @HeatherKay
I have a friend who used Fontlabs transtype, he was satisfied with it overall but some converted fonts did not render what he expected, which is annoying for a paid software. But out of about thirty conversions he only “lost” 6. It might be worth a look.
Apple had issued a warning several OS versions back that PostScript for support would end at some point.
I figured I’d try to get ahead of that, so bought an app from the Apple Mac App store, FontConverter that works pretty well. I have to manually rename fonts after conversion, but they work fine in all the applications I use, mainly with Illustrator and Vectorworks (2D/3D CAD software) and business software.
They seem to display okay. I use standard fonts in my website and convert boilerplate text to outlines, so haven’t seen how they work in web design applications, or online.
Jeffrey, thank you. FontConverter was what prompted my original enquiry.
You’ve actually used it successfully, so I think I’ll download a copy and try it for myself. I’m afraid, for what I need to do, Fontlabs Transtype was a bit too expensive for someone who is basically a hobbyist designer now!
