Corner Radius

OK, I’m fairly new to Intaglio but certainly I must be missing the
obvious here. Is it not possible to change the radius of all 4
corners of a rectangle at once instead of individually? And more
importantly where can I see the size of the radius as I edit it? The
other drawing apps I use make this very simple with clear feedback of
the size.

Thanks,

Todd

This is an old chestnut! On v2.9.8, double-click the Round Rectangle tool. The radius can be changed in the dialogue box that appears.

Alternatively, draw a square or oblong box and increase the width of the stroke to, say, 16pts. Still in the Stroke palette, go to the ‘Join’ row of icons and click the ‘Round Join’ icon—the one in the centre.

If you don’t want the wide stroke, select Object>Convert>Stroke to Fill. Select the inside points with the Point Selection tool and press the ‘Back’ key to delete them.

Thank you.

Hi

Thank you for this explanation. I would like to be able to introduce a “round rectangle” and then change the radius of the corners without having to replace it with a new one each time using trial and error.

The Stroke Inspector is the closest Intaglio has to an ‘interactive’ corner radius slider.

  1. Draw a line or path.
  2. Open the Stroke palette and click the ‘Round Cap’ button. The ends of the path become rounded. To change the radius, make the stroke wider.
  3. Select ‘Object>Convert>Stroke to Fill’. This converts the stroke to a closed path.

If you’re only likely to need a small number of rounded rectangles, after drawing them, hold down the Option and Command keys and drag each object to the Library. They can be reused in subsequent documents.

If you scale a rectangle by dragging a corner point with the Shift and Command keys held down, the corner radius scales in proportion. If the rectangle is now too long, make it shorter with the Point Selection tool (X key).

Radius editing of existing rounded (and for that matter unrounded) rectangles would be a nice basic feature to add. A radius slider in the Geometry palette would do it nicely.

It would, but it is unlikely, because of the reluctance to turn
Intaglio into a CAD application.

(I’ve mentioned this before- but to no avail).
