Default font?

I am new to Intaglio. I haven’t found a way to set the default font (it always begins new text with Geneva and I would prefer Helvetica). Any thoughts on how to make Helvetica (or any other) the permanent default font?

(I do see that if a new document is created and the font is changed at that point to helvetica, that all future use of the font tool will start with helvetica. In addition, opening a document set this way also has the default as helvetica. Now, if the default with new documents could be automatically whatever font you want as default…)

Unless things have changed in the past few months, you can establish a default font at the beginning of a session. When you want to set a default font, click the Selection Tool (S) and then select the font in the Font window. I make my default font a Favorite in the Font window, so it is easy to find.

The inability to establish default settings in Intaglio is one reasons I don’t recommend it and why I continue to look for a better vector drawing program.

One way round this is to create a new Intaglio document. Type a word and choose the font and colour. Make any other changes (page size, margins, guides, etc), save the document in the Applications folder and name it something like ‘Intaglio Startup’. When you next want to start Intaglio, go to the Dock and select the Startup document from the list of applications.

To preserve the settings, Save As.

Checking Stationery Pad in the Get Info box also preserves custom settings.

Thank you for your suggestions. Works like a charm.

Some other things one can set up in a template are

  1. Change the size of the stroke (I prefer 2 pt.)
  2. Turn on Background Paint for text
  3. Set the Fill
  4. Set the Cap and Join

Since the file format is labeled as .intaglio, I’ve named the file Template.intaglio

Best regards,
Don
