Delete a "special" anchor point?

Hello all,

I know how to delete a normal anchor, choose it and hit delete.

I have made a circle and made some strange anchor (called “anchor” in Illustrator, though a search of the word anchor in the “Intaglio User Guide” yields only one result) points that when I delete, the entire circle is deleted.

Also, if you drag one of the two anchor points around the circumference of the circle, the circle becomes a half a circle, a moon sliver, and eventully disappears altogether, once the anchor has been dragged 360 degrees.

Now, of course I can delete the circle and start again, but it is my search for knowledge that makes me save this circle and play with it.

How did I create these “special” anchor points and how can I delete them without deleting the circle?

Is there something in the manual I can look up that will help me?

Thanks ahead of time!

Hi.
I´m not quite sure what you´re after. Going to “Stroke” ->check “Open” isn´t what you mean?
You just need to go in edit mode when you need a partially circle. Any screenshot available of what you´re going to achieve?

Cheers

Frank

You can´t here right away (unfortunately) - use a free hoster like www.imagehack, load it up there and paste the link here.

Boy, this is frustrating, I’m joined Imagehack and go to:
My Profile and no pics show.

I go to:
My Images
and the pulldown menu say:
“Albums” and nothings there.

I am by no means a computer illiterate, but I may have to go out salsa dancing and come back later for this.

Uploads were successful and I even joined:
Imageshack Uploader for Mac

Oiiiy!

OK, the circle in the beginning (ignore my first piece of art work in Intaglio, the lollipop).

(Here, I moved the anchor about 60 degrees.

Almost 360 degree move.

OK, gotta take a nap, I’m exhausted

I’m starting to see that a circle made w/the Bezier Curve Tool has different properties then one made w/the Oval Tool.

In this screenshot:
http://FastFreeFileHosting.com/file/45824/Face-png.html

the face on left has many different anchor points and all circles made from the Circle Tool have two anchors.

I’m trying to replicate this exercise making a heart as in Illustrator but having a hard time. It’s in this video about one minute in (sans the advertisement):

You had a hard time haven´t you?
www.imageshack: You don´t need an account. Just browse through your files , select and hit “Upload”. Grab the second link and paste it herein. Bingo.
To your circle thingy. I´m totally lost. You mixed up so many things I have no clue how to help you. For instance: Using the path tool or the oval tool for circles are really 2 different themes. The oval tool is like a parametric object: draw oval shapes or perfect circle or cake slices, draw an arch and scale the outline. I think I try to make a video on the “heart” in Intaglio - as it´s more intuitiv in Intaglio than you might think.

Hey, no worries Frank . . . you’re a great help to people on this site.

My questions should be more specific.

I had more luck with regarding uploads with:
fastfreefilehosting.com/

Imageshack said I had no files uploaded, could be a Mac thingy, or even the browser you use, who knows.

I’ll fooled around with demo programs like Intaglio and checked: Lineform, EazyDraw and ZeusDraw and I found Intaglio my fave!

When I find the answer I’ll post back, gotta study some more

BTY - this is off-topic.

Does anyone know what the number 5 means in the left of the Freeway talk site by the word “Intaglio”?
http://FastFreeFileHosting.com/file/45830/Freeway-Talk-png.html

I think I’ve only got 2 posts, is it for messages or something?

And can I get rid of it?

Thx!

Imageshack/Safari never been a prob.

If you have a special object you wanna draw I could lead you through.

Please paste the link your image hoster provides: http://FastFreeFileHosting.com/file/45830/Freeway-Talk-png.html

“5” means you missed 5 replies in that area - nothing more.

This is annoying: why it´s adding html when it´s a png?

http://FastFreeFileHosting.com/file/45830/Freeway-Talk-png

So this is a test. I just want to see the image and not to download it and search it in my download folder. ;-(
FastFreeFileHosting seems to be the slowest on earth. OMG.
So this may work for files but is not useable for just image hosting.
No it´s not linking to the image it´s just providing the link.

Here’s one wey to draw a heart:

  1. Select the Oval tool and hold down the Shift key to draw a circle.
  2. Go to Object>Convert>Arcs to Curves.
  3. Select the Point Selection Tool (the open arrow). Handles (circled red in the screengrab) appear from both sides of the points.
  4. Still with the Point Selection tool selected, drag across the left and right hand points to select them and move the points up (B).
  5. Select the top point.
  6. Hold down the Option and Shift keys and with the cursor on the end of one of the handles, press and drag the mouse. The handle moves at 45°, distorting the curve (C).
  7. Repeat for the other side of the point (D)
  8. To make the bottom point a corner point (E), use the same procedure (6 and 7 above).

TinyPic http://tinypic.com image hosting is very easy to use:

  1. Save the file as a JPEG and add a ‘,jpg’ suffix to the file name.
  2. On the TinyPic page, press the ‘Choose’ button and select the file.
  3. Upload and when the next page appears, click the ‘View Full Size Image’ link.
  4. Copy the address and paste it into the forum contribution.

Frank, sorry about that! I’ll get a hoster that doesn’t require download soon! Don’t click on the links if you don’t want to download, I’ll repair soon

Ian, if I register w/ can I get rid of the Captchas?
They’re annoying to fill out everytime you upload.

Ian says:
2. Go to Object>Convert>Arcs to Curves.

This choice is greyed out for me even though the circle is selected, any ideas?

No hard feelings - it just stand in a way of my workflow.

You are in edit mode. Hit “S” to go in object mode again and convert.

Can´t tell - I have a red10 and I have no idea where I missed these. I don´t take it personally any longer.

For the pic about the “Polygon tool”. Use the “Arc tool” instead of the Oval tool. Drag out the radius - now hold down “alt” key while dragging the circle. To adjust the amount of the outline go in “edit” mode (X) and make any further adjustments.

Cheers

Hi Guys,

I wrote to “email@hidden” re: not being able to access: Object>Convert>Arcs to Curves,

and they replied:
I guess it only works from the standard selection tool (rather than the point selection tool you’re using). Just switch to the solid arrow and you should be good.

So, I’m good to go
