I’m truly shocked. Dave helped me more than just a little bit with my site, to the point that I wouldn’t have managed to build it as it stands, without his generous help and of course, all the time that he gave.
I’m even more shocked, because I have a project in the works, that I was hoping to send his way, as a proper paying job, by way of thanks for all the effort he put in to helping me and of course, because he had a considerable skill and knowledge.
The peculiar ‘pen-friend’ aspect of internet forums, where we know, but never meet people, makes this so strange. We really have little, or no idea of the life beyond the forum posts. In Dave’s case he was extremely generous and kind with his help and aside from that, I know little of him, except that he was a fellow Scotsman and for that I feel the kinship.
My heartfelt condolences to his wife and daughter and to his friends and family. I am very saddened to hear this news.
