Design Help

I have started a site (still in production) and I am having some issues.

Here is the site:
www.odyssey-products.com/newsite

I used a “Graphic Item” to create the main page (white box) and then used “outer glow” to create the shadow effect.

Is there anyway to accomplish the same look a different way?

the reason I ask is when I use the “Tabs Area” (as seen in the “Services” section) it somehow adds padding to the top of the page? So I was forced to de-select the “outer glow” effect in order for the page to look similar. However it does not match the rest of the site.

any suggestions?

Is there a cheaper altrenative to Photoshop? I have tried GIMP but had problems with it. Any other choices out there?

Photoshop Elements
Pixelmator
Graphic Converter
PhotoLine
PhotoComplete

for starters.

If you can manage without Paths and your needs are more for general
photo work than true artistry, take a look at Photoshop Elements. Its
interface is a bit “Homey”, but you can achieve plenty with it for
much less cost then the full version.
