Desperate for help with rollovers

The rolls would not work, or they would get hidden behind a background

Are you aware that a graphic box sent behind other things is NOT, in web design terms, a ‘background’? This is an important point.

I am using three elements – two colored boxes and a text box

In this case I’m pretty sure what is meant is a graphic box for the text. That will be output as a bitmap image, something that can be part of a standard rollover. HTML boxes can’t.

I am just calling it “background” to differentiate it. But, either way, I always seem to be fighting getting things to appear.

Sorry if these responses do not show properly, I’m not clear on how to insert a response. Net out: I’ll keep working it. The tutorials are pretty bad in that they leave out a lot that can really make a difference. Interesting, I have a note directly from a Softpress support person saying NOT to layer objects, yet the tutorial says to layer them. I have to curl up with my much-scorned Reference Guide on a nice day and read through the sections on laying, children, etc. I think most of my problems involve those elements.

  1. I go back in (as the tutorial says to, and lock each individual item in the rollover group.

Could you point me to this tutorial?

OK - This Tutorial is intended for both Express AND Pro users so uses the workflow that can be achieved in both.

ie Set to Table Layout NOT CSS Layout (which is not available in Express)

I suspect that when you have been doing it you have been using a mixture of Layer and Table items and thats where things have gone wrong.

As Keith says the CSS Layout (as he describes) is slightly different and not an option to Express users.

So one method or the other in Pro but ONLY Table Layout method in Express
