I agree. There are some on this list that have been promoting that idea for a long time as well. The problem is most people don’t want to accept it. Or deal with it. That last sentence of the article sums it up quite nicely.

Well, you will recall the intensely technical depths that print design can descend to, as you worry about ink coverage and paper grain and dot gain. There’s really no difference in the Web. Different names for things, sure, and since the material is different, it responds to pressures differently. But the level of understanding of your materials needed to produce a quality result doesn’t change just because the materials do.
