Document Background Colour

Hi all.
My site is all to go but— the BACKGROUND AROUND the DOCUMENT AREA is WHITE on some of my pages and BLACK on my other pages.
I would prefer BLACK on all, but after selecting BLACK in all of my document settings, it still shows in the PREVIEW as WHITE and even when I upload it.
Can someone please shed some light on this frustrating matter?

Thanx mate for responding. Yes, background colours have been mentioned throughout, but I don’t think it’s the type that I’m experiencing - then again, i could be wrong.

As I said, the MASTER has been checked BLACK as well as all of the pages. Hope you could help lad.
