Does Google only 'read' first 100 words?

Hi

I seem to remember reading that Google, when deciding how to rank a page, only considers the first 100 words or so. Hence it is a good idea to get keywords higher up the page and this is why one page sites (with loads of content on the one page) might not fair so well in the rankings.

Can anyone shed any light on this? Or provide a link to an article?

Thank you

I would highly recommend you putting a few hours aside and checking out Google’s very own extremely comprehensive tips and tricks on how to get your site noticed. It makes for incredibly interesting reading, most of which I have forgotten!
