Domain name transfer problem

Hi, I’ve recently been asked by a client to re design an existing site which was originally put together in iWeb and hosted with .mac. The new site is hosted by GoDaddy, a US based service. The domain name was transfered to GoDaddy, and is the same as the old .mac site.
The problem is that the new site isn’t showing up when the URL is entered, only the old site. The problem has remained the same for about a week. I’ve checked that everything is in the right place on the GoDaddy server via Transmit FTP. All is there and in place.

Would anyone have any suggestions or advice on transferring domain names or which host could be the cause of the problem? Thanks Matt

Sound like, although the domain has been transferred, the nameservers are still pointing your the old hosting. Check the GoDaddy control panel as see if the nameservers are GoDaddy’s.

Also, realize that this process can take up to two weeks to cascade
through the 'net. Even though some DNS servers will notice the change
immediately, those that are set to cache their configuration for
longer periods of time will take days and up to weeks to go looking
for more recent data.

Hi, thanks for the comments. I think Walter’s suggestion may have been what was going on. The morning after I posted this, the URL was going to the correct site on the GoDaddy server.
Thanks again for the help. Matt
