duplicate a shadow

Because in the six-character logo string I described in my last message I can’t control the Z axis (the leftmost character is at the back, the rightmost at the front), I tried splitting the string into three, so I could control the Z ordering.

That works fine, except for shadowing. It’s too hard with the existing text shadow controls to get the same shadow on all three bits of text.

I see that this problem has come up before in other contexts. It’d be nice to be able to enter shadow parameters numerically.

[Not sure why my subject like says Pro; I’ve got None selected. Didn’t know there was a Pro. Or an Express, for that matter.]

Hi Jonathan.

Simply don´t use the “Font menu” for shadow work. Use the “Drop shadow” item from the Main menu-> “Windows” ->“Effects” → “Standard”-> “Drop shadow” instead.
Much more comfortable.

Cheers

Frank

Thanks. That’s a little easier, given the numeric feedback, but it’d be easier yet if one could enter the numeric values directly. Changing the offset from 1 to 2 is very fussy with the slider, and three decimal digits of blur radius is a bit much, especially given that the values actually available are much coarser.

However, and this is a BIG however: when I apply a shadow from the Effects dialog, my text becomes unacceptably jagged. This does not happen with I shadow with the Fonts dialog.

Once nice thing about the Effects dialog (if it weren’t for the unacceptable jaggies) is that I can put a shadow on a grouped object, which is exactly the effect I’m after. Can’t do that from the Fonts dialog, near as I can tell.

So: how do I get rid of the jaggies in the Effects…Drop Shadow dialog?

Go: Main menu->Layout->Resolution. Set to “high”.
