e-commerce help needed please!

Hi Everyone

I have had a request from a potential client to build a site for her jewelry business.

She needs to sell her handmade jewelry online but every piece is unique so once it has sold she will replace it with another piece.

She needs to be able to replace each item herself as she sells one, so I guess I will need some form of CMS as well as the “shop”

This will be my first ecommerce site so your advice would be very much appreciated. I have heard of mals but have no experience of it. Is it easy to build the site? etc etc. Do you build the site in Freeway and “add” Mals or how does it work. I am experienced with Freeway and I using v5.4.2

One other point; she does not want to offer PayPal as she is setting herself up as a credit/debit card merchant.

Many thanks for any help you can give me.

Mark

As much as you might want to do all this through Freeway, this type of
problem is a very neat fit for BigCartel, Etsy, or Shopify, all of
which offer considerable customization (where you might still get your
design chops into gear) but which allow an unskilled client to do
single-item sales like this with a high degree of security and visual
style, all for a fairly reasonable nick off the sales price. Doing it
yourself will require a CMS to be sure, but also a back-end store
system that can deal with individual items for sale. This is 180° away
from the usual store, where there are SKUs with stock > 1, and
everything is geared around creating a product and then selling a
bajillion of them. Etsy in particular would be great for this, since
it caters directly to the craft market, where everything is unique.

I agree with Walter about Etsy -

but here is an option that several of my clients have on their FW site and it works great!!

the one concern that people have had - is where it is from. I will tell you that the Customer service is hands down wonderful.

an example of this store is:

click on store

it is free except if you want to offer discount coupons then its 17 / month. but it is awesome.
